1/2 Dead Deer Carcass for "Lie of The Mind"
2011 Upholstery foam, pvc , buckshot and rice, rice bean bags, heat sensitive plastic, gaff tape, synthetic fur, poured foam, and paint. Hooves were made from heat sensitive plastic, and wrapped in black gaff. Guts were made from painted latex and poured foam in a plaster mold. Legs were gaff taped so that the carcass could be carried by the legs. Lastly, I covered the whole thing in fur, and painted it to look like a buck that had been killed in the middle of winter and was half-frozen upon being brought indoors.

Fake Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup
2011 Bread: Painted expanding aerosol foam, sprayed into bread pan and allowed to set and cut with a bread knife. Cheese: Paraffin wax melted with wax crayons, poured into aluminum foil, sliced with a hot knife, and placed onto bread. Melted down with a heat gun, and brushed with 5min epoxy for shine. Soup: Paraffin wax melted with wax crayons, poured into soup bowl with croutons added before it hardened. Sprayed with gold-leaf spray sealer for shine.
-
After five failed attempts, finally, success with the aerosol expanding foam!
-
Time to conquer the soup and cheese.

Consumable Checkerboard boxes for "Hot L Baltimore"
2011 I based the designs of these checkerboards on 1950s period research, and completed the design in Photoshop in two hours. The designs were printed on plotters, cut out, and applied with spray adhesive to checkerboard box tops that had been based with white spray paint. The final step was to finish the boxes with spray shellack to seal the ink and give them a hint of shine. I completed 20 boxes in total.
